JPG to PDF from Your Phone Camera
This is the camera-roll job: photos you just took become one PDF you can forward. It is not convert a PDF on your phone, which covers PDF-to-image as well as memory limits, and it is not the desktop batch notes on multiple images. Open JPG to PDF in the phone’s browser, pick JPG or PNG files, and each image becomes one A4 page.
How to do this in PDF North
- Export HEIC or WebP shots to JPG or PNG on the phone. The converter rejects other types.
- Open JPG to PDF in Safari or Chrome, choose the photos in reading order, and keep the small margin unless you need the picture edge to edge.
- Create the PDF, open the images.pdf download, and rename it in Files before you attach it.
Worked example: three receipt photos
You photographed three paper receipts. Each camera JPG is about 3 MB, so the selection is near 9 MB — under the 60 MB per-file cap and the 120 MB combined cap, and far under the 250-image cap. On an iPhone whose camera stores HEIC, export JPEG copies first (or set the camera to a JPEG format for the next shots) and pick those files. Android galleries are often already JPG. In the browser, select receipt 1, then 2, then 3, leave the margin on Small, and create the PDF. You get a three-page A4 file. The download is named images.pdf no matter what the photos were called. Rename it in the phone’s Files app before you attach it, so the recipient does not receive a generic name. The pages are pictures: there is no text layer and no OCR.
Sideways shots and gallery order
Portrait or landscape is decided from the image width and height after the file is read. A picture whose pixel width is greater than its height becomes an A4 landscape page; otherwise the page is A4 portrait. The converter does not offer its own rotate control, and it does not stretch the photo to fill the sheet — a small or wide margin only changes the white border. If a receipt appears on its side, rotate the photo in the gallery so the pixels themselves look upright, export JPG or PNG again, and recreate the PDF. Rotate PDF turns every page of a PDF by the same angle, so it is the wrong fix when only one receipt is sideways. Gallery pickers sometimes sort by date instead of the order you tapped. Page 1 is whatever file the browser lists first. If the PDF is shuffled, select the images again, or reorder the finished PDF with Reorder PDF Pages.
What the phone page will not do
There is no installed share extension and no app. You open the site and use the file control; PDF North does not receive the photos. HEIC and WebP are refused with “Choose JPG or PNG images.” The result is not a searchable invoice and not a Word file. Paper size is A4, not Letter — resize afterwards if a portal named Letter. A stack of full-resolution camera photos can exhaust a phone tab even when the byte caps allow it; convert fewer shots, or move the same JPG files to a computer. If the finished PDF is too large to send, that is a compress decision on the image PDF, with flattened pages, not a second photo converter. Page-size behaviour for any device is on JPG to PDF page sizes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make a PDF from iPhone photos without an app?
Yes, in Safari or Chrome on pdfnorth.com. Use JPG or PNG files. HEIC from the camera must be exported to JPG or PNG on the phone first if the picker does not already hand over a JPEG.
Why is the download called images.pdf?
JPG to PDF always names the file images.pdf. Rename it in the phone’s Files app before you email or message it.
Will a sideways receipt rotate itself onto the page?
Only if the stored image is already taller than it is wide, or wider than it is tall, in the direction you want. Rotate the photo in the gallery and create the PDF again if a page comes out sideways.
Does the phone upload my camera roll?
No. The photos you select are read in this browser tab. Other pictures in the gallery are not sent, and PDF North does not keep a copy.
Can the PDF copy the words off a photographed receipt?
No. Each photo becomes a picture on an A4 page. This path does not run OCR and does not create selectable text.
How many phone photos fit in one PDF?
Up to 250 images, with each file at most 60 MB and the selection at most 120 MB. A phone often runs out of memory before those caps, so start with the shots you actually need to send.
