How PDF North works

When you choose a file, JavaScript running in the current browser tab reads it from your device. Page operations use pdf-lib; previews and page rendering use Mozilla PDF.js. Generated downloads are temporary browser memory URLs.

Safety limits

Individual files are limited to 60 MB, combined selections to 120 MB and PDF operations to 250 pages. These are device-stability limits, not upload limits: the files remain local.

Compression is different

The compression tool renders and rebuilds pages. This can reduce image-heavy documents but removes selectable text, form fields and links. Organising tools such as merge, rotate and extract copy PDF pages without deliberately flattening them.
