Order strings for common fixes
Reverse a six-page file with 6,5,4,3,2,1. Swap pages 2 and 3 of a five-page file with 1,3,2,4,5. Send the first page of a four-page file to the back with 2,3,4,1. Every string still names each page exactly once, which is why it passes the check.
Rebuilding a scan of double-sided sheets
A feeder that scans one side at a time often saves every front first and every back after it. With five sheets, PDF pages 1 to 5 are the fronts. If you turned the whole stack over for the second pass, page 6 is the back of the last sheet and page 10 the back of the first, so the reading order is 1,10,2,9,3,8,4,7,5,6. If the backs went through in the same order as the fronts, use 1,6,2,7,3,8,4,9,5,10 instead. Page through the download and compare a few sheets with the paper before you discard the scan.
Links, labels and document properties
Each page is copied into a new file, and a link from one page to another is pointed at the moved copy, so a contents page still jumps to the right place. Custom page labels such as i, ii and iii, together with the source title and author properties, are not brought across; viewers show plain positions 1 to the page count in the reordered PDF.
Type a new sequence for the pages in one PDF
Reorder PDF Pages is for a file whose pages are in the wrong reading order. The cover was scanned last. Exhibit B sits in front of exhibit A. A duplex stack came out back to front. An appendix landed ahead of the report. You know the page numbers, and you want one PDF in a different order. The control is a text field. It is not a board of thumbnails.
Choose one PDF. Once the file has been read, New page order is filled with the current sequence and no spaces between the numbers. A six-page file starts as 1,2,3,4,5,6. The summary shows 1 file, the size, the page count and the filename. Edit that list so every page number appears once, separated by commas. Spaces after the commas are accepted. The field is required. The help under it says to enter every page once, separated by commas. The button reads Reorder pages.
A six-page packet whose cover is last
packet.pdf has six pages and the cover is page 6. Replace the prefilled 1,2,3,4,5,6 with 6,1,2,3,4,5. Press Reorder pages. The result row is labelled Reordered PDF. The download is packet-reordered.pdf, and the line under the label is the file size. Page 1 of that download is the old page 6. The old pages 1 through 5 follow it. Leaving the prefilled list untouched produces the same sequence you started with.
What the order box refuses
The list must contain exactly as many numbers as the PDF has pages. A shorter or longer list stops with a message that names the page count and shows an example such as 3,1,2. A repeated number, a zero, or a number past the last page stops with a message that every page from 1 to that count must be used exactly once. A range is not a legal token here. Typing 1-4 is a single piece, not four pages, and it fails the check. You also cannot omit a number in order to drop that page.
Delete PDF Pages is the list of pages to remove. Extract PDF Pages is the list of pages to keep, and that list may be shorter than the document. Reorder will not do either job. The five-page example in the limitation under the steps, 5,1,2,3,4, moves the last page to the front and still names every page.
No drag handle, on a desk or on a phone
There is nothing to drag. Merge PDF also lacks a sorter, but that page orders whole files by the order you select them in the file picker. This page orders pages inside one file, and the text field is the only control. The preview canvas is not shown for reorder, so you will not see page 1 drawn beside the box. On a phone the field asks for a numeric keyboard. Swapping two pages is practical. A forty-page permutation is a long string, and it is easier to edit where you can see the whole line. The browser still has to hold the file in memory while it copies the pages.
One PDF only. A second file is refused. The file must be 60 MB or smaller, and it must have 250 pages or fewer. An encrypted PDF stops while it is read, with the message that password-protected PDFs are not supported yet. There is no unlock field on this page. A phone can fail on a photo-heavy stack before those caps, because parsing happens in the tab rather than on a server.
Pages are copied in the order you typed
The tool creates a new PDF and copies each source page into the positions in your list. It does not redraw pages as images. Ordinary text on a typed page stays selectable, and each page keeps its own width and height. The new file is not the old catalogue. Bookmarks are not copied, because the outline lives on the document and this function only copies pages. The form dictionary is not copied either, so a fillable form will not still be fillable in the download. A certificate-backed signature does not stay valid on the new bytes. Annotations that ride along inside a page object are not something this tool promises. Open the download before you send it.
Numbers painted on the sheet stay where they were painted. They do not renumber themselves to match the new sequence. If the labels should read in the new order, run Add PDF Page Numbers on the finished file.
Scans, and why the bytes stay on the device
A photo page is copied as the picture it already is. Reordering does not sharpen it, shrink it, or read the words. If the stack is also sideways, use Rotate PDF before or after this step and check both results. The bytes are read in this browser tab. PDF North does not receive the document, and the original on your device is left in place. Reload the tab when you are done so the temporary download address is released.
Tips when the sequence is only part of the job
Split PDF cuts one file into consecutive groups from page 1. It does not apply a typed order. Merge PDF joins several files and does not rearrange the pages inside one of them. Use extract when you do not want every page, and delete when you know which sheets to drop. Compress PDF is a later step, and only if a size cap remains and flattened pages are acceptable.

Why does New page order fill itself with 1,2,3?
After the PDF is read, the field is set to the current sequence with no spaces, one number per page. A six-page file begins as 1,2,3,4,5,6. Edit that string. Leaving it unchanged keeps the sequence you started with.
Can the reorder field accept a range such as 1-4?
No. 1-4 is one token, not pages 1, 2, 3 and 4. Each entry has to be a single page number, the list has to be exactly as long as the document, and every page from 1 through that count has to appear once.
What stops a reorder that repeats page 2?
A message that every page from 1 to the page count must be used exactly once. That same message covers a zero or a number past the last page. A list of the wrong length uses a different message, and that one includes an example such as 3,1,2.
Do numbers printed on the sheet update after a reorder?
No. Marks already drawn on the page stay where they were drawn. Reorder PDF Pages does not repaint them. Add PDF Page Numbers on the finished file if the visible labels should follow the new sequence.
Does a fillable form stay fillable after the pages are copied into a new order?
No. The form dictionary is not copied into the new document. This tool copies pages only. Do not rely on the download if someone still has to complete fields in the source.
Is there a drag handle for moving one page on Reorder PDF Pages?
No. The text field is the only order control. This page has no thumbnail strip and does not draw the preview canvas. On a phone you edit the numbers with the numeric keyboard.
